The History of the Rio Rico Border Community

The town of Rio Rico was part of the United States until 1967. The US and Mexico had previously cleared up one of the biggest outstanding border issues in 1963. Homero Contu Trevino, a resident of Rio Rico, argued that he was a U.S. citizen who could not be deported. A federal appeals court ruled in favor of Mr. Trevino's claim to his birth place.
