Maria Sabina's Secret to the Gringo

Gordon Watson and his photographer met Maria Sabina in Oaxaca, Mexico. They were on assignment from Life magazine for an article about the use of mushrooms. The Catholic Church knew that she was giving the mushrooms but told her to do it in the name of Jesus Christ. She paid a terrible price for revealing the secret - they killed her teenage son.
