The Importance of Prescriptive Grammar
The construction is at least 450 years old, and a slightly different version of it with a pronoun as an antecedent instead of a noun phrase. So the dictionary of American regional English has evidence of this just in the US. It's not standard English, but that doesn't mean it's bad. We do not believe in prescriptive grammar here on the Judge John Hodgman podcast any more than I imagine the Merriam Webster Dictionary does.
