The Bodhisattva's Compassion
The Dalai Lama is celebrating his Holikness Adalilamis birthday this week. He has a quality that the Bodhisattva compassion is supposed to have: he could meet everyone where they were. When Tashi met my husband who was with me also a journalist, we got to take hands with him - but not my husband. And when she saw her husband being led away and he looked back and he saw that my husband was hurt, disappointed. The figure doesn't look warlike. He's not armed. He's holding out a lotus. It's so beautifully embodied what this image in the way embodied to me feels like.
