CHAPTER

The One and the Many in the Order of Being

In our world, there are many things that truly exist, and that are truly distinct from one another. At the same time, all that is real, everything around us truly exists,. so there is something common to all things, they all have being. Existence is not merely a thing, like a form, matter, composite, a human being, a plant. They all have existence. To think this would be idealist, as we find in Plato's theory of forms where being and the good are something distinct from our physical world. The multiplicity of things is real.
