Parabola Telescope
The dish is a thousand feet wide and weighs 900 tons. It's in the middle of pertorico, right? And they have to put it out in the middle of nowhere, right? To avoid noise. So i always wonder, like, how does that move? Like, if you want to point your telescope somewhere in particular, how do you move such a giant dish? You don't move the dish at all. But what you can move is the little receiver. That's the thing that weighs 900 tons and is suspended by cables above the dish. If the platform moves, then you're sampling a different focus point.
