The Antarctic Treaty of 1959
The Antarctic Treaty of 1959 seems like one of the rare agreements the world's nations have upheld. Antarctica is fascinating to me because we know so little about it. It's an area that's one and a half times bigger than the US, but experiencing it is extremely limited. I would think there would be a lot of things worth exploring in an area that size other than just a barren icy wasteland. No entity on this Earth has the authority to constrain, embargo or negotiate or mitigate that right. That's a human rights crime. And that's something that we have to deal with in the coming age of mankind.
