The Importance of a Centenarian Dinner
A month or so ago, they had a centenarian dinner here in independent living. And there were like 23 people over 100 years old. It was moving. I found it strangely moving. Some of them had a relative to come and join them and they had the most beautiful cake. So I met a woman whose name is also Margaret. My nickname is Peggy, but her name is Margaret also. How do they get Peggy out of Margaret by the way? That's what I was wondering. Nowadays they don't do that. A nickname for Margaret nowadays is like Marge or Maggie. Or Margot. But back then in the thirties it was Peggy.
