What Is the Cutoff Point of Ancient Magic?

My real effective start point is the Homeric poems, and in particular, the portrait of Cersei. It attests to the existence of young's wheels, already in about 800 BC. So on that basis, it is often claimed by scholars of ancient magic that magic did not exist in ancient Greece before 500 BC. And therefore, whatever Cersei is, she's nothing to do with magic. The cutoff point, well, it's a bit hard for me to say, even my source book is a bit schizophrenic on that issue.
