David Frum: It seems like countries have been trading with each other long before anyone articulated and named the principle of comparative advantage. He says political scientists can look across the landscape of political systems over 200 years to assess which ones work better or worse. There may be half a dozen or a dozen different democracies some of which are slightly better in one area, others are slightly better than others, he says.Frum: And then finally, these are statistical arguments, like with testing the theory of Thomas Friedman's idea that no two countries with McDonald's ever fight.
