In the 11th century, a Benedictine monk called Peter Damian sent his fellow clergymen on a list of things that he believed women were like. The book asks how can we figure out what's right in a world where we all are coming at these massively complex moral issues from our own particular vantage points? It was absolutely a really narrow slice of society who decided that people who looked exactly like them deserve to be ultimate arbiters for how everybody else should behave.
