Ray Allen Miller's influences are Steve McQueen and interestingly Roy Anderson, the great Swedish filmmaker who actually Ari Aster frequently recommends. I don't think you're going to be surprised by any twists and turns of the plot. It is also heartening that she chooses to use the romcom as a genre because so much of the straight to streaming romcoms right now look like absolute trash and art.
