Passive Beat or Expository Beat?

A passive beat is when the avatar protagonist doesn't know what to do, so they do nothing. Exposition is the thing that drives everybody crazy because it's extraordinarily nuanced and complexed. But passivity is not conceptually difficult to understand. The trick is to figure out when to employ passivity to the greatest possible effect.
