Is There a Power Balance Between Professionals and Survivors?
Even within MIA, there's this constant sort of tension between the professional person viewpoint and the survivor person viewpoint. I think that that conflict is central to why the whole system kind of doesn't work. There's a point at which the survivors themselves have got to be the driving force to make this whole thing change. But as long as we have this power imbalance where people who are de-greed professionals or they ever get more credit than the people who are supposedly trying to help, I think we'll keep having this struggle.
