MICA will require that the service provider obtains a license for providing its services. For third country firms they will need a subsidiary within the European Union to provide their services. The aim is to reach a similar level of legal certainty as for the custody of securities and client protection goes even further in case the custodial wallet provider loses the crypto assets.
