The Importance of a Pluralism in Democracy

Jennifer Piscopo is an associate professor of politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. Chile's constitution has been in place since 1980 when the military dictator Agusto Pinochet wrote the country. Since then, it's been criticized for lacking inclusivity of indigenous people and women. Current president Gabrielle Boredge has led an initiative to overhaul and rewrite the current constitution.
