The almighty tells moses to position the jewish people in a way to give the impression of confusion, and thereby deceive the egyptians. God will manipulate events to insure that indeed they get what they want. Pharaoh's ultimate des r was impurity, and therefore god availed for him that opportunity. So there 's he principle that we see many places in the talmud, that in the path that a person desire, that is the path down which god will lead them.
