What Is a Minimalist?

The image of a minimalist is this French style fashion home with white background and one sofa in the very, very far distance. That's not what you mean by minimalist at all, is it? For me, I would say minimalism is about stories, not about stuff. Anytime we try to acquire something that we don't have or we try to let go of something that we already have, we first have to unpack the stories that bind us to those pursuits or those possessions. And so it's not about arbitrarily getting rid of stuff in the name of following minimalism as a religion,. nor is it about thinking of yourself as better than people because you have fewer things.
