The History of Neutrality in Psychoanalysis

The idea of neutrality and psychoanalysis has to do with this idea of being a mirror. And I think that instead what happens is neutrality gives cover to what I call in white years. So then whiteness and neutrality become equivalent. It looks very different in the kind of here and now form of kind of object relations like analysis in the UK from here in the US. But definitely for a long time neutrality and masculinity in a way become equivalent. That means that any anything else is not neutral, and that we can cover over the kind of biased listening white years as a kind of neutrality.
