The Different Types of Breathing

Be alert, be present, feel calm, fall asleep. Alert focuses on forced ventilation. Being present combines a breath in with a breath hold and then exhalation that's twice as long as inhalation. Be calm is what we've been talking about mostly here. Ryan mentioned ocean breathing. It's a tool to help slow down the exhalation. When I take groups through this, I'll lead them through a series of patterns so that they actually get to experience what it's like to change their state.
