Be okay with not knowing the latest thing, the latest trending topic on Twitter. I find that that is a better indication of what's actually going on in the world rather than what CNN or Fox News is reporting. To turn off these alerts is to risk feeling out a touch or even socially isolated. It could also apply to how many tabs you have open.
