The Value of Fan Works
In 2019, A03 won a Hugo Award for best related work. I think there's kind of this conception among non-fanfic readers that because fanfiction is derivative, that is inherently not as creative. But to those people, we'd say that Clueless is technically Jane Austen fanfiction and not a single one of you better argue about the value of Cher Horowitz. You know, like on a serious note, fan works are increasingly being turned into their own original IP.
