Why Do We Get Thirsty?
Tonight's episode is really about thirst. So why do we get thirsty? How does that happen? This is just a conscious need for water and there are two, at least two main drivers of thirst. The increase in osmolarity is detected by two small structures in the forebrain. And as the serum osmolarities increases, the intensity of thirst increases. It could be that patients with primary parlidipsia are drinking not because they're thirsty but because of these other reasons.
