The Impossible Truth About Freedom

Even though he'd been freed from prison, I was still considered an enemy of the state. The goal is to break apart the family, remove faith and anything other than the state. It lasted for only a few months in the autumn of 1983 when I finally decided to visit the US embassy in Warsaw and request political asylum. And it was such impossible thing for me to think that I could ever be allowed to leave Poland and come to live as a free man in America.
