Researchers say people who share the same smell are more likely to become friends. Other mammals sniff one another to determine friend or foe. Why not humans? Researchers assembled two dozen same sex, non romantic friends and made them wear tea shirts that were measured with a device called an electronic nose. They later did the smell test with a human. Both the machine and the person could identify which pairs were friends and which were strangers. Unlike animals, who rely on sense, humans rely on language and reason to istinguish friends from foes.
