The Science Behind Loving Kindness Meditation
There's a fair amount of science behind it, whether you look at the neuroimaging, which is what my lab has largely done. And there are also other labs that have looked at training in self-compassion and seeing all the positive benefits for society when we practice. Loving kindness meditation is a form of meditation. It essentially asks you to envision a series of beings sometimes starting with yourself or an easy person, then to a mentor, a neutral person, a difficult person, and then all beings. You systematically send them good vibes like maybe happy, maybe healthy, maybe safe, may you live with ease.
