The Rule of the Clans
James VI was able to call upon a navy to sort out the west of England. Charles I, he also found the clans problematic. He pursued a more aggressive strategy. This then leads up to the so-called War of the Three Kingdoms. The English Civil Wars produce relative anarchy in the 1630s, 40s until the English occupation fourth of General Monk brings law and order again.
