The History of Israel in the Second Half of the 700s

The Annals of Tiglath-Polezer III, like the Book of Second Kings, record Assyrian forces obliterating Syrians in the north around Damascus. In 720, Israel and its capital Samaria were finally conquered. This generally is what it says in the Old Testament, and also what Assyrian conquest records state. When people say that archeology supports the Bible, they are likely talking about the military and economic decline of Israel during the second half of the 700s.
