The Socialist Party of Germany Voted Unanimously for the War Credits

In 1914, the largest party in the German Parliament was the Socialist Party. Rosa Luxembourg taught all of them whatever stripe of revolutionary socialist they were, couldn't possibly vote for the war. When she saw the party in which she had believed to do the opposite of the thing for which she thought it stood, she contemplated suicide. Quite seriously, she thought her life was over because nothing made sense anymore.
