The Inid and the Georgics on an Olive Oilter

Virgil does tend to get everywhere in the ancient world but most of the quotes are very very restricted. They're mostly from the Inid, not from the Georgics or the Epons. And what's always been the puzzle about these for people is whether this shows a really kind of embeddedness of Virgil and Roman popular culture. It would give you no indication of whether the scroller had actually ever read or seen Hamlet.
