Weather Forecasting - Now Costing

In 19 87, a weather forecaster assured viewers that there was no hurricane on the way. The great storm turned out to be the worst storm to hit south east england in three centuries. Weather forecasting is based on phenomenally sophisticated mathematical models which churn through eye watering amounts of data. But these models do have their limitations and decisions need to be made on a shorter time scale than that. Now casting is the problem of predicting where is it going to rain and how much, just a short window into the future.
