Augustine and the Manequins

Augustine had a public clash with the mannequi and fortune otus in 392. He contacted Saint Jerome to ask about Latin translations of Greek biblical commentaries. By 395, according to the ancient biographer Pecidius' account, Augustine's energy was part of a great revivification of pure Catholic faith.
