Is There a 12 Week Gap Between Fizer and Oxford?

Seans we talking about fiser. I've got a question from somebody else who wants to be anonymous. But this cracker is about the m r and a vaxins, because that's the type of vaxine that pizer is. It's a new technology, and while the trial data is looed the short term side effects, we don't know what the effect of these vacins might be in the very long term. We do have accumulated data, albeit on relatively small numbers of people, and so far as there's been nothing at all to give us any concern. And so i think our real concern would have been of any nasty side effects emerging within days

at the moment, that is pure speculation. I think i've got one that you might be able to answer with a little bit more data, cause this is a question from morin who's been worried about the 12 wek gap between the two jabs. She had the fizer jab, and while there's been lots of data about oxford being highly effective if you space the two doses out more, she hasn't seen so much about fizer.
Speaker 1
So the 12 week gap wasn't part of the fizer trial, so we don't have official data from the trial, but actually, the data emerging from the roll out, i think should give morin a lot of confidence. Because all the we can see is that whether you've had the astrozenica or the fiser, you get a very high level of protection from the first dose, which will last at least until your second dose. Seans

we talking about fiser. I've got a question from somebody else who wants to be anonymous. You ask such great questions. But you don't want your name on the radio. But this cracker is about the m r and a vaxins, because that's the type of vaxine that pizer is. It's a new technology, and while the trial data is looed the short term side effects, this listener says, we don't know what the effect of these vacins might be in the very long term.
Speaker 1
Your listener is right, that the m r and a vacines, these are the first ones to be licensed, but they have been under development in one form or another for more than 20 years. They were originally considered as a potential way of developing canser vaccines. And so we do have accumulated data, albeit on relatively small numbers of people, and so far, there's been nothing at all to give us any concern. The other thing that we know from vaccination programs going back a hundred years is that if nasty side effects are going to emerge, they emerge within days or weeks of vaccination, not after months or years. And so i think our real concern would have been of any nasty side effects emerging within days or weeks. And that would have been picked in the trials.
