Heat Waves Over Europe Are Getting Worse

Over the last four decades, we found that heat waves over europe have been increasing in a faster rate compared to other regions in the midd latitude. And this is both in frequency of heat waves and intense of heat waves. This increasing heat wave, specifically in western and northern europe, is linked to changes in the jet stream. It's an increasing tendency to split into two parallel streams called double jets. So we have found that the zet stream has been more and more found in a different configuration, the one that we call double zet in this paper. And this causes this increasing heat waves in these regions.
