The Rise and Fall of Roman Jakobson

Roman Jakobson was a Russian Jewish linguist who fled to the United States in 1939. He is now Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University. His work, following closely on what we already saw in Meet and Bates and Inbali, is something like media technical analysis or total capture of a cultural system such that it becomes calculable. It's not a naivete, but it's a sense of, the world is in a moment of crisis.
