Adolf Sutra's Glass Palace
The name Sutra might sound familiar to you especially if you live in San Francisco. Adolf Sutra built public gardens, presented free concerts and built the structure that would eventually become Sutra bats. He struck it rich by engineering a mining tunnel during the Nevada Silver Strike in the 1860s. Some historians estimate that at one point, Adolf Sutra owned one-twelfth of the city.
