The Evolution of Genetics
It's been almost 30 years since you started your postdoc and while the buildings at Oxford have not changed much in that time the field of genetics has evolved quite a bit. Back then I recall we used genetic variants called micro satellites which required a lot of work so they'll essentially buy die nucleotide repeats that vary between people but very difficult to genotype. We didn't know how genetically diverse human beings were or how many genetic variations there are in the human genome just an incredible number tens of millions hundreds of millions.
