Krasas's Parthian Campaign
Krasas had sent off his son, who was, say, the glamorous, heroic cavalry officer type. Caesar lent Publius the son and a thousand cavalry to the Parthian campaign. Krasas went straight out there looking for this battle that he thought he would win quickly so that he could do it deals. He found himself in the middle of the desert, surrounded by sort of whirling crowds of little soldiers,. or little ponies with bows and arrows. His son didn't know better than his legionary father how to deal with such an army. The Romans were used to being able to sort of bash off arrows and just wait for them to stop before the crushing took place
