The Future of Protest Studies

i want to spend the book of the conversation obviously talking about this great paper that you've written on how bidging, or the chinese government responds to protest during sensitive periods. But i thought haps we could start by giving a broad over view of the state of the field of protest studies. What are the big questions, or big unanswered questions, that are driving research? And then, just as a follow up, what's different about the study a protest in china.
