The Cost of Bug Fixing in a Production Environment
I don't disagree with the observed behavior but I think there's some deeper things there. What I've seen is that it's more about how something is detected and how long it takes to sort of understand the root cause. If you file a bug from say a user or even a tester, punching away at buttons and says, oh, I found this, that's going to take a little effort to try to understand what was really going on to cause the bug. But when testers do a bunch of their own work and file the debug logs and the other one, then the cost goes downEven if they catch it late in testing because the developers can then say,Oh, I know
