The Importance of Knowledge in Folk Music

I don't have any musical training at all. So I'm going to these folk bars completely as an observer. And from the outside, it seems really improvised. But in terms of improvising, I think the way that happens in folk music is more on the kind of ornamentation so little kind of decorations. Because it's an oral tradition, we don't all play the tune in the same way. People, if you listen to the same tune played by different folk musicians, it's off. There's some quite big differences.
