The Benefits of Velvet Noise

Velvet noise is a random train of positive and negative pulses that are each only one sample in length. The rate, and hence the density of the velvet noise, can be controlled by changing the probability that a zero value will be generated. Scott Campbell has shared various patches on the 301 forum to test out his patch called Shatter. It's pretty much like throwing sand against a hard surface - it takes a very short sample and uses velvet noise to spray it.
