Letifa simons has been in the forefront of looking for solutions for social issues that bart has to deal with. She's introduced some things like an ambassador programme, where they have non armed personnel who ride trains and patrol some of the stations. That's also evolved into having crisis intervention specialists who can deal with the many people who show up on bart who are having mental health episodes.
