The Importance of Understanding the Bible
If you do a degree in biblical studies these days at university, you'll very quickly find you feel utterly unequipped to be able to understand the Bible. But as I say that, I can hear Luther and Calvin doing a steady wine at 90 revs per minute in their graves because that was precisely the sort of thing that the great reformers swept away in the Reformation. So what Roman Catholicism had been saying was that the Bible is actually nearly impossible to understand. And so, and yeah, that seems to just go against so much of what we instinctively think, doesn't it? You know, the Bible is a clear, simple book. Let's turn to Deuteronomy 6,
