Adorno says that jaz is not the expression of an accumulated subjective force which directed itself against authority until it has produced a new la out of itself. It is purposeless unlike beethoven, which is his example, which is totally absurd and is incredibly problematic. Adorno loves taste as it is associated with the upper classes, with the bourgeois.
