Know Your Enemy

CHAPTER

Is There Continuity in Her Essays From White Album?

In her early essays, say, about the student movement, or about the black panthers, you know, the commentary she makes is the sacrificing of an individual, of a person, to an ideology. She does not seem voaristic to me. The thing thathethat she felts mostly, what she talked about with hughie newton is how carefully he was managing his image. So there's that continuity too, yes. And it's interesting too, because her reporting on that scene, hoever tough and unsparing and detached, doesn't have that cors of kind of unpleasantness that you read in radical sheik reports.
