How to Determine Intensity Based on the Session Rather Than Time in the Zone

Inigo Semmelan suggested doing a high intensity rep block at the end of a longer, easy workout. What are your thoughts on this, especially for time constraint athletes? Would you consider adding one to two short reps at LT2 or higher at theend of an easy session as being worthwhile or detrimental? This is going to be one of these. It depends kind of thing. I get it and I've done it... but don't push that too much. As long as one five minute doesn't become two and then three, see, that's the slippery slope that I would be concerned about.
