How to Mix Colors in a Painting

Colors influence each other throughout the painting and when I shine a really strong light source on everything it bounces color all around. Almost all the colors in your painting are actually a form of gray they just lean a little bit toward one hue or another. The most saturated side will be the light mass side yes okay so then from a color mixing standpoint, how did you mix that color?
