The Origins of Meteorites
A hundred thousand stones, varying in weight from 15 pounds to a small fraction of an ounce, fell near Pultusk, Poland. Another remarkable fall that meteorites occurred at Lagol, France, in 1803. Between 2000 and 3000 stones fell over an ellipsoidal area of 6 and 2,10 miles in greatest diameter. Of all the meteorites that have been seen to fall, only nine belong to the group of side arolytes or iron meteorites.
