The Balance of National Self-Determination and Internationalism

In the German tradition, which I'm familiar with, Johann Goethe Härder talks about,. you know, the nations of the world making up a beautiful garden. Different nations are like different kinds of growths of humanity that have different kind of distinctive features. So it's the sort of liberal nationalist blossom in their own particular spot and allow the others to blossom too. That would be one question as to how a liberal would balance those two commitments.
